This year marks the first ever Sorghum Recipe Showdown hosted by the Sorghum Checkoff. We are asking people across the country to create and submit their best sorghum recipes for a chance to win cool prizes, including $500. The contest seeks recipes that appeal to the home cook while demonstrating the benefits and versatility of cooking with sorghum.
Recipe Requirements
Recipes must be original and include ingredients with broad consumer appeal and simple preparation techniques. Recipes must use at least one of the following ingredients: sorghum flour, sorghum syrup, sorghum grain, popped sorghum, flaked sorghum or sorghum bran. The name of each recipe submitted must be five words or less. Recipes must list ingredients with exact U.S. measurements and step-by-step instructions. Read full contest rules here.
How to Enter a Recipe
Beginning at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on July 1, 2015, until 5:00 p.m. ET on July 31, 2015, participants must submit their entry form, original recipe and a high resolution photo. Alternatively, participants may post the recipe with a photo of the dish on their blog and then Pin the recipe to Pinterest with the tag #tastesorghum in the description. All entries must be posted and submitted or pinned between July 1, 2015, and July 31, 2015.Contest participants may submit up to three entries.
The Prizes
Three winners will be announced Sept. 1, 2015. One (1) $500 grand prize winner will be announced September 1, 2014. The grand prize winner will be selected based on the highest overall scoring recipe. One (1) second place winner will receive custom engraved cast-iron Dutch oven. One (1) third place winner will receive a Sorghum: The Smart Choice® apron.
